Cayce is a city located just across the Congaree River from downtown Columbia. It has deep historical roots, strong connections to the river, and convenient access to the entire Midlands region. Pronounced “KAY-see.”

History
The area now known as Cayce is one of the earliest settled regions in South Carolina. Native American groups lived along the Congaree River for thousands of years before European settlers arrived. Fort Granby was built there during the Revolutionary War. Cayce was incorporated in the early 20th century and named for the Cayce family, who operated a brickyard.

 

County
Cayce is primarily in Lexington County, though parts of the city extend slightly into Richland County.

 

Schools
Cayce is served by Lexington School District Two. Schools in and around the city include Cayce Elementary, Busbee Creative Arts Academy (middle school), and Brookland-Cayce High School.

 

Commute
Cayce sits at the crossroads of I-26 and I-77, with I-20 just minutes away. The city connects directly to Columbia via U.S. Highway 321 and multiple river bridges, putting downtown Columbia 5–10 minutes away. Columbia Metropolitan Airport is also located in Cayce.
